For the past 6 years I’ve been writing a new story. I’m currently engaged in the endless process of rewriting – trimming the fat, and shaping it into a respectable polished draft. Only very recently, have I seen the light at the end of this tunnel. And soon I’m going to try my luck with literary agents. I thought I’d chronicle my attempts in this blog.
Will I make the story into a game? Not sure yet. One step at a time. But creative journeys are always surprising, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this one takes me.

Currently polishing the novel in layered passes. Did the story pass first to work out the big issues and now doing a language pass to work out the grammar, spelling, style issues. Trouble with this method is you get more and more numb to the words every time you reread them. It’s hard to look at the material with a fresh perspective after a while. That’s when it helps to have a friend take a look.
My goal is to have a draft I’m comfortable sending out to agents by mid-summer.

The home stretch. So close, and yet the end still feels so far away! I just thought of a good twist on the ending, so I’m due for a more strenuous patch of rewriting as I approach the finish line. Endings always do the heavy lifting when it comes to plot, so I want to make sure I do it justice. Gotta keep pushing on!

I see light at the end of the tunnel. After extending my deadline to the end of summer, it looks like a photo finish.
But I will make it! The rewrite is almost complete!
Which means it’ll soon be time to send out query letters. Feels like I’m sending my baby off to college. Let’s hope the first few rejections aren’t too harsh!
